Wrong or right, Situation is foolish but I will fight.
| ^ Big Distraction (From my new No Doubt album. It immediately catapulted into my top 5 songs). Anyways! Hi again everyone. I'm wondering if there is a point to blogging every day because I'm not sure how many people are reading this that often, probably only Roberto and maybe Olivia. Lol, aren't I popular. *no music loaded up, family all alseep. This won't do, I need some form of music so, Inspired by my own comment up there ^, I have decided to do my top 20 songs of all time ever. This should be fun and I'm ready to be flamed. It is really hard to do these things because you always forget random songs you love or have like 25 songs to list. Anyway, prepare for lots of No Doubt and Jack off Jill. These are probably the 20 songs which I like that little bit more (or heaps more in the case of the first few) than the others I listen to and enjoy thouroghly. It doesn't count parody or joke songs because they are a different category all together. 20) Imaginary - Evanessence (This was once my number 1 song during the sime when I had forgotten about No Doubt {even though some of their songs were always with me deep down, I just didn't know it}. This is still one of my favourite songs ever and I would be top 5'd if it weren't for the downside of making me want to kill myself, like all Evanessence's songs. I listened to them to get me through the worst period of my disorder and now they subconsciously bring back thoughts and memories from that time. It makes me depressed just thinking of how much I miss being able to listen to some of these songs. Especially: Haunted, My Immortal, My Last Breath, Whisper and Tourniquent. How so very emo of me >.<" 19) Beauty Contest - No Doubt (On the CD I bought at the op shop but also on my new CD. It is touching because Gwen admits that she was obsessed with competing with the other famous girls for in trying to be the hottest. She has stopped that now and simply dresses in a way she likes to look herself, or if she's playing a role like skany prep in the Hollaback Girl clip... eww. Even without the contextual knowledge, this song is touching because everyone can relate to times when they have obsessed over their personal looks, even if for only a few minutes or seconds.) 18) Dr Feelgood - Motley Crue (I've recently begun to like this song more and more, undoubtebly thanks Riordan, if you don't know why it is in here then listen to it until you do.) 17) Lovesong - The Cure/Jack off Jill (I love the Cure's work but I've only ever heard covers. Jack of Jill's one is really good but I don't listen to it anymore because I now subconsciously connect it with bad past experiences) 16) Full Circle - No Doubt (Yeah, there is a reason why they are my favourite band and that is because all their songs rock. This song is about 6 degrees of seperation and the chorus is striking enough to be quoted for truth by me a lot.) 15) Cool - Gwen Stefani (I generally don't like her solo album as much as No Doubt but this song, along with Harajuku stand out in the album which is all dance. While this is technically a dance song to, the lyrics make sense and people aren't annoyed by things like "Tick Tock x 1000", "nananananananananana x1000" or "This shit is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S". Don't get me wrong, I like Gwen's solo album equally in with most of my other music but they stand out less) 14) Ex-Girlfriend - No Doubt (One of No Doubt's rock tunes. The "crue" probably won't appreciate it as they're biassed against newer rock AND against No Doubt because of Gwen's solo album but it is a great piece to rock out to. The lyrics are really powerful as well, especially the song's main line "I'm another Ex-Girlfriend on your list, but I should of though of that before we kissed"). 13) Spit and Rape - Jack off Jill (Very soft, gentle and pretty and then Jessicka screams "spit and RAPE" as loud as possible and it turns into the industrial goth metal which I love about the band.) 12) Tragic Kingdom - No Doubt (I love this song to pieces. Especially the end where they repeat "Welcome to the Tragic Kingdom" while progressively getting faster and faster. The finish to the song is great to, every single one of the band's players, including their sax and trumpet and trombone just improvises whatever the hell they want on top of each other to create a feeling of disorder/chaos. Then it ends without a resolustion.) 11) Chop Suey - System of a Down (I know it is really old and over used but I like it, it fits in perfectly with the rest of my suicide party mix) 10) Dr Online - Zeromancer (This is a really funny song while being serious at the same time. I think the fact that anyone would sing the line 1800-SUICIDE is hilarious in itself without the song being about the suicide hotline assisting with deaths not preventing them) 9) Hey Baby - No Doubt (THE BEST DANCE SONG EVER! I love this on to pieces because it is so abrupt and true about the entire dating scene. It is so cheesey but I love it so much. "Hey Baby" is the most awesome phrase ever to use to piss people off. And Roberto, you homophobe, when Gwen sings "All the boys get the girls in the back" at the end of the chorus she is NOT talking about anal penetration. She means in a back room or at the back of No Doubt's tour bus) 8) Paint it Black - Rolling Stones (Nice, mellowish, good to sing along too. I don't exactly get why they want to paint red doors black, I see the symbolism but really? ?) 7) Sunday Morning - No Doubt (I love this song, it used to be in the top 5 but then I listened to it about 60 times in one day, including 25 times in a row on max volume and I'm a little sick of it now. It is my favourite feel good, song out there and it's combination of Jamaican Reggae, Jazz, Pop and Rock is a winner. The lyrics are easy to relate to as well) 6) Swamped - Lacuna Coil (This song just makes me happy in the pants, enough said.) 5) Big Distraction - No Doubt (Wow. I can't stop listening to this song and I've had it all of 4 days. It is some kind of forbidden 4/4 in the verses and 6/8 in the chorus. The lyrics are a bit confusing because I don't know the context of the song yet but when I bother to do that I'll probably get it, just like most of Gwen's other songs) 4) Strawberry Gashes - Jack off Jill (Yeah I love this band to pieces. Strawberry Gashes is fun, touching and great for singing in public to get people to look at you funny. Actually probably equal to Vivica if it weren't for the more personal nature of the latter.) 3) Vivica - Jack off Jill (If Don't Speak isn't the most touching song ever then this one is. Like DS , the lyrics and the beautiful way Jessicka sings makes me so happy yet, depending on my mood or what is happening in my life, I feel like crying. I named my rat after Vivica, the girl in this song) 2) Clear Hearts, Grey Flowers - Jack off Jill (I'm not sure how popular this one is amoungst you JoJ fans but I love it to pieces, it is simple yet complex at the same time and has a broad variety of meanings and lyrics I can relate to, despite having a small variety of them) 1) Don't Speak - No Doubt (deep down this has been my favourite song since I first heard it on the radio about 10 years ago. Possibly one of the most beautiful songs ever written and undisputibly the most popular/recognisable break up song of all time. Hearing this song makes me happy and sad at the same time) So that is my top 20. There are plenty of other songs that I love to pieces but these are the stand out ones. If it is anything Gwen or Eric Stefani have written (ie, anything by No Doubt except their cover of It's My Life or their soundtrack/collection pieces) then I will love it forever. The same with Jessicka. I can't say that about any other band and that is why those two are my favourites over the other and why they feature so much in this list. Hehehe. I remember Ben said something about music should only make you feel good. I disagree, maybe that is true about rock but music should simply make you feel anything, like a movie. Mostly it will be happy, but sometimes it is nice to listen to something that will make you feel something else. You can't be happy all the time and if you're already feeling an emotion such as anger, or loneliness, then a song which makes you feel the same way usually will help you turn that experience around and to build on your character. |
