On Creative Arts

(New comic too. "What if Shirley Manson was a French Artist") This is one of the greatest fragments of poetry to ever exist: When Ajax strives, some Rock's vast Weight to throw, The Line too labours, and the Words move slow; Not so, when swift Camilla scours the Plain, Flies o'er th'unbending Corn, and skims along the Main. Cleary it rhymes but that isn't the point. Try to read the first to lines about Ajax fast and the second two lines about Camilla slow. It doesn't work. It is written (it probably took Pope a hell of a long time) so that when you read it your speech is altered in conjunction with the 'theme' of the line. It is absolutely amazing. This is the sort of thing I do at uni for one of my units. Read good poetry and bad poetry and discuss why. In the process I also learn about the intertextual references should I not know them. (I guess Ajax and Camilla would be the examples here.) It's really interesting and quite enjoyable to devour literature. =P Anyway. This blog is about Creative Arts because of a hilarious comment in one of my lectures today. "If you want to disappoint your parents and you're too scared to be gay, become a creative artist. You get no money but you grow a brain and, God forbid, a soul" Renee and I proceeded to High-Five each other. To which everyone in the class most probably shook their heads and exclaimed "damn creative artists". Helena (our tutor who wasn't running the lecture) just laughed and did a kind of subliminal "creative artist pride" hand gesture at us from the front row. It was fun. In other news it's assignment time. I have 3: In class tutorial presentation on Alexander Pope (the guy who wrote those lines up there) 1000 word essay on 'What is Terror' (hardest thing ever because 1000 words is literally shit all) 1000 word essay on 'What is Poetry' (see above comment) Also I have bought secret green clothes to wear on St Patrick's Day. All will be revealed at Little Creatures tomorrow to which you ALL BEST BE ATTENDING. :D Also Also, I'm getting my own computer soon. A Pentium 4 for $400. I'm just starting with something which I can run a couple of lame games on but mostly it's for hiding in my room and doing all my shit in there instead of out in the general family area. Eventually I'll hope to upgrade parts to something that can play recent games online with people which is something I haven't done in YEARZ (not use of the letter 'z' to emphasise time). :DD ALSO also also. I'm helping my sister move out tomorrow morning. :DDD !!! Peace out!
