Anime Time

Well, Sundays is my weekly day of watching Anime from 1:30pm until about 5:30-6:00pm.

That is 8 different shows which will be the subject of today's blog.

We start out with the psycholocial thriller I refer to as "The Bourne Identity on Drugs", Monster. It is about a brain surgeon in Germany named Dr Tenma who chooses to save the life of a boy over that of a politician. As a result of this the hospital board snobs him off and his life falls apart. That is until a series of murders elevates him back to the top position. Of course he is the prime suspect and he must prove his innocence. Dr Tenma encounters lots of random people ranging from a super fat psychologist involved in the investigation to an ex-spy with a strange secret which hopefully will be revealed soon (today's episode he killed 2 people with no weapons after being beat to within an inch of his life and barely able to move. (You don't seem him kill them but he says he did).

Monster

Secondly is the very sexy Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl) which I've blogged about before. There is a website which you can only access at midnight. If you enter someone's name into the website the Hell Girl will appear and give you a doll with a red string tied around its neck. If you remove the string your enemy is taken straight to hell but your soul is marked and you too go to hell when you die. The first few episodes were pretty much induvidual stories about characters you never see again but eventually you meet a journalist investigating the Hotline the Hell website and his daughter who falls into trances where she can see the Hell Girl and what she is doing.

Monster

Third is the funniest show you will ever see in your life (if I can get you to watch it). It is called Ouran High School Host Club. The Host Club is a high school club (in Japan these are as big as the uni clubs are here) where girls go to fawn over a group of 'appealing' guys. The heroine, Haruchi, is a scholarship student who is the only one from a middle class background. She is forced to join the club after she breaks an $80000 vase. She dresses in the male uniform and they think she is a guy but of course they fall in love with her Shakespeare style. She reveals she's a women, they are relieved but keep her in the club because she's a hit with the girls. (most people thinks she's male).

Monster

Fourth is The Third which is a post apocalyptic scenario. A huge nuclear war turns the earth into a desert wasteland (along with mutant bugs). Honoka a 'sword dancer' and an artificially intelligent battle tank named Bogie make a living by running errands. The leader of 'The Third', a group of wierd humanoids rule the planet from space and 'protect it', is in love with Honoka but she hates him. One night she rescues a strange man in the desert and he seems to attract trouble. This is a new one and I've only seen 2 episodes but it is leetskeet all the same.

Monster

I'll put up the other 4 later on so that you don't lose complete interset (even though you probably did halfway through Monster)...

Saying 'Monster' in italics in that first paragraph reminds me of Some Kind of Monster :) Good song from 'Tallicas average latest album.

Oooh, I like Anime!

That Monster one sounds pretty cool, so does the Third. The others sound kinda average if you ask me, which you didn't...

Oo'ers, someone else familiar with St Anger :) I agree; Monster, Frantic and even Dirty Window are good, I just don't really compare them with the original 'Tallica stuff.
