Day 4 Galleries and Binge

Early in the morning I headed to Federation Square for the first breakfast I actually ate. It was good. I was in shorts for the first time too- Melbourne had the sunniest weather since forever but I hadn't trusted it to not suddenly start pissing down with rain until today. First place I went to was the aquarium which is cool. I should stop describing things as “cool”, Anyway I loved the jellyfish and the fugly freshwater fish (the piranha feeding was very “you don't care about us”, youtube it if you don't know what I mean). When I left it was pissing down with rain. No joke.

I went back to Satan (which wasn't that bad) and put pants and a jacket and a scarf on and headed to my other favourite place in the world, Carlton (where I was born almost 20 years ago to the day). This is my other favourite place because it is where THE MOST AMAZING MUSEUM EVER is!!!

2 million bugs, a live Sri Lankan Tree Spider, minds, bodies, rain forests, TS Islanders, Aboriginies and Melbourne are all represented by mind blowing exhibitions (and ones that are more sensitive than the “authentic Aboriginality on wondrous display” mentality of Perth's one. I was seriously there for so long that the MCG was closing when I eventually got there.

Anyway my dream workplace, ALL I'M SAYING IS IN 2010 THEY WANT TO OPEN A GALLERY ON THE HISTORY OF THE RACES, CULTURES, AND PEOPLE OF AUSTRALIA INCLUDING EVERYONE since the BEGINNING. Amazing.

Next was the MCG, a bit of a trek but one of my favourite experiences. Walking the rainy streets of Melbourne (listening to The Whitlams singing about rain in Melbourne) while absorbing the history and cultural richness in ever corner. Intense.

After I dropped my bag at about 7 I went to check out the nightlife at Southbank and in the city. It was ok but people weren't as friendly to someone by themselves as a certain other place which after a few drinks I decided to return to. The best decision I made all trip – going back to motherfucking Geelong (from here on out renamed Geelomg). Just throwing it out there but AMAZING. I drank shitloads, met so many fun randoms, the venues are great (even the clubs) AND I could hardly see/walk/speak and staggered up to the station at about 5am so it was completely empty. I sat on a bench waiting for the 6am train but got up to yak EVERYWHERE. I don't remember anything after that except waking up about 5 to 6 with the Station Guard telling me the train was replaced by a bus. I'll assume I just passed out on the bench, it was only for an hour so I didn't go anywhere else.

After getting my ticket I was just in time to bus it home to Southern Cross station (7am arrival), stuff my face with a sausage roll from 7-11 (seriously it was gone before I left the shop), bathe/change, pop 394854325 of those purple nutrient waters labeled “rehab” and meet up with Bec and Akashy at Crown (11am). So like that forty minute 'sleep' at the station, maybe 40 minutes on the bus because I remember a bit of that trip, and like an hour tops at the backpackers until I got back up and I did it again. So. Much. Fun.
